Our Analytics team: Enova's Analytics team consists of over 30 quantitative professionals dedicated to using the latest cutting-edge techniques to drive business value. We are a shared service department for the entire company and operate in four workgroups:
  • Credit Risk Analytics - the credit risk analytics team focus on building cutting edge risk, pricing, and underwriting models to optimize our lending decisions.
  • Fraud Analytics - analysts on the fraud team use advanced data mining techniques to identify and fight online fraud.
  • Business Analytics - this team uses advanced modeling and simulation techniques to optimize the performance of our loan products and operations.
  • Marketing Analytics - the marketing analytics team is focused on applying statistical analysis and predictive modeling to help our marketing teams acquire and retain more valuable customers.

This is where YOU come in:
As a Senior Data Scientist you will be one of Enova's most valuable resources. The Data Scientist will be responsible for automating current processes and researching systems in data management while supporting the Credit Risk Analytics, Business Analytics, Fraud Analytics and Marketing Analytics teams.

We are looking for someone to research and implement best practices regarding model management and real-time Analytics. As the Data Scientist, you will be expected to expand and maintain our existing data warehouse for purposes of standardizing data for analysis and modeling; and creating standardized code libraries to streamline the modeling process. You'll be responsible for designing and maintaining our standardized variable list, our goal is to ensure this list is available in R, SAS, Mathematica and Python. You will also construct and implement a standardized model release process to ensure that models are quickly and accurately put into production.

While working independently with little to no supervision you must be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with other departments and/or groups specifically collaborating with our Chief Architect, Software Engineering Team and Database Team to develop and improve our Analytics engine. And through all of this, you'll mentor analysts and disseminate your technical knowledge throughout the Analytics team.

You're right for this job if you:
  • have a quantitative discipline; primarily we look for educational backgrounds in mathematics, statistics, operations research, quantitative finance, physics, engineering and computer science.
  • haveextensive experience in SQL
  • have at least 5-7 years of Python, Ruby, or Java experience
  • obtain knowledge of one or more of the following: SAS, R, Mathematica, Python (for scientific purposes)
  • have experience working with Linux/Unix
  • have at least 5 years of proven project management experience, specifically dealing with the full project life-cycle including: project definition, requirements gathering, project time lines, execution and QA
  • possess a demonstrated capacity to learn new languages and technologies quickly
  • have knowledge of regression and machine learning techniques, with ambitions to learn more
  • work well both independently and in a team environment
  • managed or mentored junior level employees

 
Kudos to you if you:
  • have a Master's degree or PhD in related field of study
  • have experience in analytics or computer programming at a financial institution
  • a strong understanding of delivering financial services through the Internet.
  • have given technical talks at conferences or meetups on subjects you are passionate about
