Job Description:

Data driven analytics is impacting Bosch's products and services in many domains: Purchasing, Predictive Maintenance, Health Informatics, Vehicle Diagnostics, Manufacturing, Large-Scale Simulations, and more. The Data Science team at Bosch Research and Technology Center (RTC) researches and develops novel machine learning and data mining algorithms, especially for large scale data analytics as well as provides thought leadership to Bosch on Big Data frameworks, architecture and data management needs.

Our focus areas include distributed, parallel and hybrid architectures for big data analysis, temporal data analytics, multi-modal and heterogeneous data analysis, distributed optimization, and anomaly detection among others. We are looking for a Research Engineer to work on research in the area of data mining and large-scale machine learning algorithms for high-performance distributed and parallel computing environments. Our focus is on uncovering new domain knowledge and providing data-driven predictive analytics in order to create high-impact business value for Bosch.

Tasks
  • Contribute to research on large-scale machine learning applications
  • Develop innovative solutions for distributed data analysis
  • Improve scalability and performance of existing solutions for descriptive and inferential analysis of real-world datasets
  • Champion test-driven development principles

 
Requirements
  • PhD in Computer Science or related field with 1+ years work experience.
  • Strong experience in using distributed programming frameworks such as MapReduce and Spark.
  • Ability to identify dependability and performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
  • Extensive programming experience with two or more of the following languages: Java, C++ (STL), Python, Scala.
  • Proficiency in network protocols is necessary.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (approx. 5%-10%).
  • Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL database systems desired.
  • Familiarity with MPI or OpenMP a plus.
