Amazon is one of the world's most highly trafficked sites and the delivery of relevant advertising to shopping customers is a key company strategy and rapidly growing source of revenue. Our advertising platform provides self-service, low-latency ad serving for multiple performance-based advertising programs with large ad inventories, a unique problem space within the Amazon advertising ecosystem.

Amazon's display marketing team is looking for a business intelligence engineer to provide data-driven customer and performance insights for our mobile and web digital advertising programs. Amazon is aggressively leveraging display advertising to acquire new customers, generate revenue, and promote the value of our products. We are seeking a strong data analyst who can validate our success metrics, shape our strategies, and identify untapped opportunities.

To be successful in this role you will need to be innovative in your thinking, effective at cross-team collaboration, experienced in working with data service teams, and have a solid understanding of the art and science of digital advertising. You will need to be comfortable working with complex challenges, appreciate white space, and understand the value of rapid test and learn approaches. You will need to be savvy about leveraging large data sets and using a broad range of statistical, data mining, and scripting technologies.

We are looking for an outstanding business intelligence engineer that can help us extract meaning from billions of datapoints and automatize processes to communicate these insights in real time to the business teams. Furthermore, s/he should be able to analyze data from dozens of different services, make sense of the results, and be able to communicate them to top management. Amazon has a culture of data-driven decision-making, and demands business intelligence that is timely, accurate, and actionable.

Responsibilities for this role include:
  • Proactively engage stakeholders to identify opportunities to better quantify returns, improve efficiency, and grow our marketing programs.
  • Provide data-drive support for marketing investments and budget allocation across a variety of different programs.
  • Define success criteria, design structured and often sophisticated marketing tests, and analyze test and ongoing campaign results.
  • Mine and analyze data to develop critical customer and business performance insights.
  • Communicate with internal teams to showcase results and identify best practices.

 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 3 years of progressive experience in marketing analytics or equivalent education plus experience
  • Experience using database technologies, including SQL queries and stored procedures; processing large, multi-dimensional datasets from multiple sources; performing statistical analysis, and developing analytics tools for business end users to run data mining tasks

 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related, quantitative field plus one year of experience
  • Experience working with market mix modeling, and developing campaign ROI models
  • Strong working knowledge across a variety of skill sets such as SQL, SAS, R, Python, is a plus.
  • Executive-level written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in digital advertising or ecommerce
